Is Fraxel Laser Treatment Painful?

The amazing results that happen with Fraxel laser treatment have given the procedure a great reputation. Because of this, more and more people are looking into the Fraxel laser treatment for themselves, anxious to find a solution that can promise younger, fresher-looking skin, as well as significantly diminished fine lines and wrinkles.

But What About the Pain?

Sure - Fraxel laser treatment produces great results for a relatively low cost; but how much pain does it cause? If you are like many others who are considering Fraxel laser treatment, you're most likely concerned about the level of pain involved with the procedure and the resulting "down-time" you might need afterwards in order to recover. It's a common question and a legitimate concern, and one that has a better answer than you might originally think!

1 or 2

When asked the general question of "between 1 and 10, at what level is your pain?", most clients undergoing Fraxel laser treatment will respond with a 1 or 2. This is because the amazing technology offered by the Fraxel laser only pinpoints those areas of your skin's cells that are damaged; the healthy areas remain untouched. The result is that your skin will suffer less trauma with the procedure and there will be less redness and damage on the top layer of your skin during the hours and days following treatment.

Rubber Band Snap

The sensation caused during laser treatment is most often compared to the feeling of a rubber band snap against your skin. As with anything, the extent of the discomfort will depend on a) your level of tolerance and b) the sensitivity of the area of skin being treated. The discomfort caused lasts only as long as the treatment is being given, and is often accompanied by a blast of cold air to negate the pain the laser might have on more sensitive skin.

A Little Pain - A Lot of Gain

When you consider the fact that between one and five laser treatments will achieve better results than years of using expensive creams and micro-dermabrasion, you will realize that the slight discomfort of laser treatment is far better than most other options available on the market.
