Treating Acne Scars With Laser Treatment

People who were sufferers of acne as a child often are faced with scarring, and permanent memories of their problems well into adulthood. Once they reach the stage where their chronic acne problems are behind them for good, they seek a way to remove or treat acne scars that they are left with. One such way is to use a laser treatment.

Before you can consider doing this, there are some steps to take. First, you need to make sure that you don't have any active acne outbreaks. It doesn't make sense to treat your acne scars, if you are still having acne occurring. If you reach this point, you probably want to visit a doctor or dermatologist. Things you can buy at the drug store do work, and can keep your acne under control, but prescription drugs work much better, and a licensed dermatologist can determine the right course of treatment for you. This can range for oral antibiotics, topical treatments, or keratolytics, or something entirely else.

Once you are clear of acne, we can consider the laser treatments.

Over the past several years, there have been significant advances in laser medicine. You can use it now for cancer, for vision correction, and lots of other maladies. One of these is the ability to treat acne scars. Long ago, doctors used something called a Carbon Dioxide laser, which would destroy the entire surface of the skin, including the scar. There was a healing period, usually 1-2 weeks, while your face regrew its appearance over the blasted area. During that time, your skin is open, and at risk. There are also other possible side effects, such as discoloration of the new skin, or actually more scarring.

Doctors now use non-ablative lasers, which isn't destructive. One good example is the pulsed-dye laser, which takes redness out of the scars. Since most scars are red, this can have a profound impact on your appearance without being invasive at all. Another example is the fractionalized laser, such as Fraxel, which help to remodel your acne scars into healthy looking skin, and has no healing period. This kind of treatment is a course of treatment, though, you generally need 4-6 sessions to have the collagen in your skin regrow properly.

So, if you're looking to treat your acne scars using laser treatment, be sure your face is ready, and seek a non-invasive treatment. You should see results much faster, and with much less risk.

Laser Hair Removal Vs Traditional Methods

Laser hair removal is fairly new. For generations, women have been seeking out the perfect way to get rid of unwanted body hair and there have been a lot of advances in this area. Laser hair removal is perhaps the most advanced, though and offers quite a few benefits.

Some of the other more traditional methods of hair removal include waxing, shaving, tweezing and electrolysis. Each has its own disadvantages and a few benefits.

Shaving: This is perhaps one of the most commonly known methods of getting rid of hair. Unfortunately, it is also the method with the most downsides. While razors are cheap, they run the risk of causing nicks which can become infected. Also, when the hair is sliced off flat, it grows back appearing thicker and darker and giving the opposite effect desired. Shaving sensitive areas, such as the face and bikini area, frequently results in ingrown hairs, which can be both painful and unsightly.

Waxing: This method can be painful, as it actually yanks hair out by the roots. However, it lasts quite a bit longer than shaving, runs fewer risks and is relatively easy to do at home. The downside is that you have to let the hair grow out quite a bit before waxing is effective.

Sugaring: Using sugar instead of wax, this is supposedly a more natural method of hair removal, but it still carries the disadvantages of waxing and adds a bit of stickiness to the whole situation. Some people claim it isn't as effective, too.

Tweezing: Impractical for large areas of hair removal, tweezing is ideal for smaller areas such as eyebrows or the chin. It can be rather time consuming to pull each individual hair out by the root, though and they sometimes break off.

Threading: Similar to tweezing, threading pulls hair out by the roots, but it uses thread that is twisted to catch the unwanted hairs and then pull them out. It can be quite painful and requires skill to use this method.

Depilatory Creams: These are full of harsh chemicals that burn out the hair. They offer longer regrowth periods than methods like shaving, but are not as effective as waxing. The chemicals can irritate sensitive skin, as well.

Electrolysis: This is a more popular method of hair removal that involves zapping the root of the hair with small electric charges to kill it. While you will need several sessions, this can be a good way to eventually reach permanent hair removal.

Laser hair removal is a great alternative to all of the above methods. While these methods (apart from electrolysis) are all temporary and need to be repeated frequently over a lifetime, laser hair removal uses focused light to target dark hairs and requires up to 8 treatments for full removal. A few people need touch-ups afterwards, but in general, the procedure is permanent.

Lasers target the dark hair, so those with blonde hair will find it ineffective. However, for anyone with brown or black body hair, it can be a good way to eliminate the unwanted hair. Thanks to the ability to work quickly, laser hair removal is ideal for larger areas, not just eyebrows and chin. It can be used to remove hair on the stomach, legs and pubic area, as well, and is most effective where the hair is darkest and thickest. The light beam is actually fairly large, making it easier and faster to work with than other options such as electrolysis, which focuses on one hair at a time.

Lasik Laser Hair Removal - Best Hair Removal Option?

Hair removal is a booming industry today, with many men and women looking for smooth, hairless skin. There are a few different methods of removing unwanted body hair. Many people prefer shaving, while some actually prefer waxing or tweezing (ouch!). Waxing is a very popular method, with many clients getting long lasting results. Others report that waxing is very painful, and sometimes causes irritation. Waxing involves covering an area with a syrup like substance, placing a strong tape over the area, and then basically pulling the tape off.

Many women prefer waxing for their legs, and bikini lines with those areas being smaller and easier areas to remove hair from. For back and body hair, lasik laser hair removal is an effective method. Many clients report permanent results, and most do not feel pain during or after the process. Laser hair removal removes hair from the root, providing longer lasting results. Irritation is a concern for those with sensitive skin, and hair removal cream may be a better option for those consumers. Revitol hair removal cream is very good if you have sensitive skin.

Cost is also a concern when considering laser hair removal. The cost depends upon the area where the hair is being removed, and the amount of hair to be removed. If you are considering this form of hair removal, make sure you do your homework and find a reputable company for the procedure. If not done correctly, side effects can occur, such as skin blemishes or prolonged irritation. Lasik is one of the more well known companies that practices laser hair removal, but this is not a recommendation. You should consult your physician before undergoing this procedure to find out if it is safe for your skin.

Techniques and Procedures Available For Laser Hair Removal

It was back in 1969 that lasers were initially employed for use in hair removal and when, in the 1990s, official approval was given for the use of the Softlight laser to be used in the USA, the technology really began to develop. Today, laser hair removal is considered as an efficient, lasting method of reducing unwanted hair from places such as the bikini-line, legs, back, chest and face. It is perhaps not the totally painless procedure some would have us believe, but it certainly causes far less discomfort than either waxing or electrolysis.

In order for laser hair removal to successfully take place, a laser beam is carefully aimed at a hair follicle in order to destroy it without having a detrimental impact on the surrounding skin. This will effectively disable the follicle, preventing new hair from growing from it. The laser light used for this purpose has to have a 'pulse duration' that is sufficient to destroy the follicle but not so long that it could burn the surrounding skin. The common pulse duration is approximately just 1 millisecond, with the laser energy density between 10 t0 25 J per square centimeter of skin. It is usual to have a cooling gel applied to the area to be treated before application of the laser. This gel, or sometimes it might be a cream, will often contain an anesthetic such as lidocaine, which will minimize the patient's discomfort.

It is important to realize that, for the skin to absorb the laser energy safely and successfully, the color of the skin needs to be somewhat lighter than the hair itself. This is because a darker pigmentation would absorb the energy, perhaps causing burns or discoloring of the skin. This makes the choice of your cosmetic technician or physician absolutely vital, as it is essential that you choose someone with the experience and technical knowledge to be able to effectively judge what is and is not possible for your specific requirements. Although there are laser hair removal systems that are designed for use in the home, this is a process that many people would prefer to leave in the hands of a suitably qualified professional rather than attempt themselves.

The widespread availability of laser hair removal machines, and their greater affordability and portability, means that some clinics, even hairdressers, can now offer this service to clients. Please ensure, though, that you are trusting yourself to an acknowledged and certified practitioner, rather than simply selecting the most economically attractive.

Laser hair removal - and the less concentrated Intense Pulse Light procedure - are both successful and speedy methods of hair removal. Excellent results can be achieved, especially on patients with a fair skin and dark, coarse hair, and most patients will experience no side effects other than a slight redness after the procedure, which will usually quickly vanish.

Several treatments will have to be undertaken for complete success as the laser beam can only destroy actively growing follicles, which have different growth cycles. The hair follicles will, however, start to fall out about two weeks or so after the first treatment, although the hairs might disconcertingly appear to be growing for a while as they are pushed out by the new epidermis.

Is Laser Hair Removal Occam's Razor?

In the hands of a skilled practitioner laser hair removal is a rather simple and long lasting procedure. If we interpret the words of William Occam: "Why repeat a difficult task, when there is a more simple solution?" Since the 14th century, this popular theorem has been known as Occam's Razor. So why spend a lifetime shaving, when you could keep it simple. When it comes to unwanted hair removal, Occam's Razor is laser hair removal.

You could keep shaving or waxing, but why would you? Perhaps the means should be the end. -- Such is the theorem suggested by Occam.

OTHER HAIR REMOVAL METHODS

Before laser hair removal, removing unwanted hair meant either having to endure pain and irritation and/or spending a lifetime utilizing temporary, less than satisfactory measures. For years, the suggested alternative was electrolysis, a laborious process whereby an electric shock needle literally burns hair follicles one at a time. Waxing and shaving, while quicker than electrolysis do not offer permanent hair removal and require a lifetime of self-service. Advances in laser technology have spawned a new solution to an age-old problem -- removal of unwanted hair.

LOW RISK OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Risks associated with laser hair removal treatment are low when compared to most medical procedures. No incisions, injections or oral medications are necessary. The variability of laser hair removal results has everything to do with the equipment quality, the technique used, and the competency of the laser operator. The most common interference with successful laser hair removal is "tanned skin." Guests at Ideal Image are reminded and warned repeatedly to not tan while receiving laser hair removal. If a suntan were to go unnoticed a patient could develop "skin circles" after treatment. Although temporary, they require 3 to 6 months to fade. Unlike competitors in the field of laser hair removal, Ideal Image has never been sued for medical malpractice.

COST OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL

After resolving their safety concerns, most people wonder about the cost of laser hair removal. In the long run, laser hair removal is considerably more cost-effective than electrolysis and other methods like waxing or shaving.

Considering time, cost and inconvenience of waxing, shaving, purchasing razors, creams, depilatories, etc., laser hair removal can be more practical.

To make a fair comparison, one must compare the time and cost savings of laser hair removal with methods that are less efficient and offer less permanent hair removal.

SHAVING: The average person spends 1 hour per week shaving. When all totaled, that is the equivalent of 1.5 working weeks per year, only to elicit less than satisfactory results, possible razor burn, razor-bumps and the ever-present five o'clock shadow from dark hairs showing beneath the skin.

COST OF WAXING VS. LASER HAIR REMOVAL: One bikini wax has an average cost of $43 and often only lasts one month. If you compare this to the Ideal Image monthly payment plan for bikini line or Brazilian procedure, the cost-effectiveness of laser hair removal is apparent. Although cost may vary per location, the national average for financing bikini line laser hair removal is $35 per month. The "Full Brazilian" is $44 per month.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT LASER FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL

L.A.S.E.R., or Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, refers to the radiation of light beams, and is not to be confused with harmful ionizing or nuclear radiation. Lasers produce one wavelength of focused light. This differs from sunlight, which has many wavelengths (and is evident in the colors of a rainbow). Laser light is amplified, making it more powerful than light produced by typical light sources. For laser hair removal this focused and amplified light is pulsed on and off for an instant. This is not to be confused with IPL, Intense Pulsed Light that is not laser and can easily burn the skin.

Lasers were first introduced to treat medical disease in the early 1970's. The first laser used for hair removal was the Ruby (694nm), introduced in 1995. The theory behind laser hair removal was developed at Wellman Laboratories of Photomedicine at Harvard. The Ruby Laser could only be used on fair-skinned individuals. Thus, lasers were developed offering 3 more wavelengths - 755nm, 810nm, and 1064nm, making it possible to customize laser hair removal for various skin tone and hair types.

Lasers work by heating up a target. For laser hair removal, the target is hair just under the skin. At centers specializing in purely laser hair removal - like Ideal Image, it is important to have both the 755nm Alexandrite and the 1064nm YAG lasers by Candela Corporation. The combination of FDA-approved lasers allow treatment for all skin types, from light or fair skin, to dark black skin types. The most versatile laser and primary laser used at Ideal Image is the Candela 755nm. It produces a 3-millisecond pulse targeting the color in the hair shaft, thus damaging the structure supporting the hair root. Lacking a supportive structure, the hair falls out. In all likelihood, it will not re-grow. Candela medical lasers are so selective; they can remove black ink from a white page without burning the white paper. In summary, they selectively destroy hair, leaving the skin undamaged. Candela lasers continually prove to offer the most comfortable service, while producing the most favorable results.

Got a Mole? Don't Want It? See If Laser Mole Removal Is the Answer

You've got a mole on your face and you don't want it. Laser mole removal may be the ticket for you. Here are a few things about happinesslifetime.com laser removal for you to consider.

Dermatologists can use the following options to remove moles: cutting (excision), freezing cryotherapy), and burning (laser therapy).

Laser therapy is a medical procedure that can be used in mole removal. This type of treatment is used for superficial moles as the laser beam does not penetrate very deep into the skin. If it is going to be your first time to undergo this treatment, you must be really anxious. Especially if you are unaware of what laser therapy is all about.

Let me tell you briefly how it is done.

- The first thing the doctor decides is what kind of mole is being removed. Most moles are benign but a mole that changes in color is a malignant type of mole and requires further medical attention.

- Second, the doctor will determine if he needs to administer local anesthetic because the laser therapy could cause some pain. However, most of the time there would be no need for an anesthetic.

- Third, the doctor uses his laser and the beam from the laser penetrates into the mole and literally burns it up and thus removes it.

Now, let's weigh the advantages and disadvantages of laser therapy in mole removal.

Advantages:

- It is a safe method

- Discomfort is compared to being snapped with a rubber band

- Risk of scarring is low

- It is a non-surgical procedure so no stitches are necessary

- It is quick.

Disadvantages:

- The cost for this type of treatment is expensive ranging from a hundred dollars up.

- Flat superficial moles are the mole of preference for this procedure. If the mole is attached deeper into the skin this will not be the removal method of choice.

- More than one laser therapy session may be required. Sometimes an additional session is required to completely remove a stubborn mole.

- A slight skin discoloration may occur on the area impacted with the laser beam. Prescription creams are used to help with this problem.

Well there you have it. It's your mole; it's your face. The decision is, of course, also yours. Laser therapy, like any of the other mole removal treatment has its own pros and cons. It is best to seek professional advice when it comes to deciding which treatment would suit you best. Here's wishing you the best with your decision.

Removing Tattoos Through Laser

There are many reasons that a person would want to have a tattoo. There are even more reasons why the same person would want these tattoos removed. Most people who would want their tattoos removed do so because of the professions that they get themselves into. For example, people who later on in life gets themselves in the army require that they should not have any markings on them. Therefore, have to get rid of any markings that are on their bodies. Other reasons that would cause this may include change of heart or even change of work place. Whatever the reason for someone's desire to remove the tattoo, the fact still remains that the person will have to be extremely careful on the method he would want to use in making these changes in his body.

Laser technology is one of the ways that physicians have used to remove tattoos. It proves over again to be the most effective method, guaranteeing better results and less chances of leaving scars on ones' skin. The method through which this laser beams work is relatively straightforward. As a beam of light runs through the skin layer, it emits short pulses that split the ink pigments into particles that are tiny and workable sections. Initially the skin would not have been able to remove the tattoo since the ink pigment would have been too successful; but once the laser beam splits this pigment, the immune system of the body is able to get rid of this marking as a foreign body. It would take some time for the body to get rid of the whole ink layer, and it is, therefore, necessary to let the skin work under the best conditions possible. Through this method, the healing process gets hastened.

Depending on the color of the ink used, the type of skin the person has, and also the depth at which the tattoo got into the person's skin, healing and complete annihilation time will range from 5 to 12 Black ink used on tattoos is easier to remove than green or yellow pigments on one's skin.

The one disadvantage of getting a laser treatment is the fact that the laser may remove the hair follicles of the skin area that is in contact with the laser beam. One will thus want to be careful deciding whether to have a tattoo done.

A quick recap of how pimples are formed

Our skin has tiny pores connected to oil producing glands underneath the skin. These glands produce oils that moves dead skin cells to the skin surface. The 'pipe' that is connecting the pore to the gland clog up due to excess oil production. This results in the formation of pimples. There are different varieties of this problem and each has a different name - blackheads, whiteheads, acne vulgaris, acne rosacea etc. You will definitely want to consult a dermatologist to understand your condition.

Now, coming back to our main discussion. The procedure for the laser treatment is fairly straightforward. A very powerful, high-speed and extremely accurate laser is controlled by the laser technician. So, what does the beam do? The beam destroys the specific excess oil producing glands that are under the skin and destroy any existing bacteria in these areas.

Sounds simple enough. Now, you might be wondering if this is all there is to it. Well of course not. As with any other medical procedure you should be aware of certain drawbacks of laser treatment.

* At times, one treatment isn't enough. It's hard to predict whether all the excess oil producing glands and bacteria have been taken care of. So, you might have to go through the procedure a couple of times till you are able to achieve the desired result.

* The other problem is that this treatment is expensive. The cost ranges depending on the experience of the provider, quality of the laser facilities etc. So, bear in mind that this might not be a one-time deal when you are shopping for laser treatment providers.

So, there you have it. Both sides of the story. While it is easy to measure the drawbacks in monetary terms, it is hard to measure how much the self-esteem of the individual is raised once this procedure is completed successfully. That feeling is one word - priceless!

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

The world of medicine is constantly improving. The continuous research and development has paved way for many alternative treatments that can be a stand alone cure or can act as supplementary treatment to existing therapies. One of the more recent developments involves cold laser therapy, also known as photobiomodulation.

What is photobiomodulation?

Although the word sounds prohibitive and hard to understand, any body can comprehend this therapy as long as the right explanation is offered. Cold laser treatment involves being exposed to low level laser light in hopes of eliminating or decreasing various symptoms that individuals suffer from when they are ill.

Photobiomodulation puts to use laser light or light emitting diodes (LED) on certain areas of your body and this affects cellular functions. If you are wondering what laser light is or what LED is, these are the same technologies being used in traditional lighting, or automobile lighting, and even in devices such as computer screens. The difference lies in the application of laser light - healing with laser only calls for low levels of exposure.

If you remember, you should have learned about the properties of light in your physics courses. The two most important things to know are that light has different wavelengths and intensity. The wavelengths depending on their length and frequency, produce visible light colors (red, violet, etc.) while intensity is the energy given out by light.

In essence, cold laser therapy involves the release of these properties of light in very low levels to the body of an afflicted person. This practice started becoming main stream when a doctor experimented with the newly-developed laser light in skin cancer in mice. The experiment proved that laser light increases the capability of skin cells to allow the re-growth of hair in shaven mice.

There is still ongoing research on the efficacy of cold laser on numerous diseases. This is because there is much more to be learned about controlling laser light levels in order to maximize its healing potential. Of course, the studies involve the perfect way of combining wavelength, intensity, the duration of exposure per treatment, and the length of days or months that treatment is not done. The goal of these researches is to know exactly what combination of the four elements would be most helpful in specific illnesses.

However, cold laser has already been approved as an alternative therapy by the FDA. This means that information about the therapy's effects in clinical use is already available. It has been deemed very safe to use these low levels of laser and it has been seen that laser therapy does affect either the stimulation of or inhibition of certain cellular functions.

Cold laser treatment is already being used for skin wounds, muscle and tissue injuries and pain control. More clearly, this therapy is already available for the treatment of chronic pains such as arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, among others.

You can learn more about photobiomodulation in different sites that offer this technology online or you can ask about it from clinicians and other medical professionals.

Cold laser therapy uses low power lasers for biostimulation, which is not much different from using different intensity kitchenlightideas.com kitchen lights ideas to highlight different areas of your kitchen.

Use of Skin Laser Machines for the Glowing Skin

Laser technique has evolved at a rapid rate since the past few years. Earlier it was not considered to be a trustworthy technique. With the passage of time, more and more people started using it. It proved its effectiveness whether it is in hair removal or skin lightening. The main role in effective treatment of skin is of the skin laser machines. Laser machines are currently most established technology and a profitable investment. Four major treatments performed by the laser machines are as follows-

Facial hair removal - usually most of the techniques for the hair removal are considered unsuitable to use them on face. Since many years women used bleach for face hair removal. Even after this it used to leave some hairs. This led to the discovery of laser hair removal equipment. It is a better solution than shaving, bleaching and waxing. It does not cause any harm on the face tissues that are too sensitive. One can also purchase the machine and start own business on small scale.

Lightening of skin- Most of the cosmeticians use several therapies for wrinkle reduction. Some of the branded creams and injectable fillers are widely used. However, laser skin lightening is one of the best medical lasers. The heat of laser beam leads to the coagulation of skin. The treatment increases the formation of collagen protein. As a result it causes increased size and plumpness of the skin. The laser treatment thus causes lightening of the skin much effectively. According to a study, the positive results of laser skin lightening lasts for long time as compared to those of others.

Due to sun damage- In the hot summers one of the more prominent problems is sun damage. Several effects of sun damage are like skin laxity, uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, scars due to sunburn and much more. These can be effectively treated through the laser machine.

For treatment of scars- Laser technique is even used for the treatment of scars resulting due to acne and injury. There are higher chances of acnes among the teenagers. For this various laser machines can be used.

A distributor of cosmetic equipment supplies machines at a comfortable and affordable range. There are other procedures also that use the technology of laser treatment. They include reducing the visibility of varicose and spider veins that may appear due to standing for long hours. Other is Intense Pulse Light (IPL) therapy for lessening facial hair, birthmarks, spots, freckles, veins, and several others. In the current scenario, laser technique has become one of the major attraction centers for many businesses to enter into the market of skin lightening.

Understanding Laser Hair Removal Treatment

For individuals wanting to get rid or reduce unwanted hair on specific areas of their body, laser hair removal has become an extremely viable option for many of them. The biggest benefit to this procedure is it offers permanent solution and is backed by years of medical science and proven results.

Laser hair treatment works through utilizing the energy from a laser beam. The laser is targeted at a hair follicle; the heat penetrates, reduces and then eliminates the hair entirely. This procedure is best suited for happinesslifetime.com facial hair removal and removing smaller patches of unwanted hair on specific areas of the body. Lasers are more effective against darker and coarse hair, and it has proven most effective on individuals with light skin and dark hair. Cost of the procedure will largely depend on the size of the area being treated, amount of treatments needed, which method is used and location of the clinic.

This option, however, is not suited for every individual and is not perfect. Laser treatment targets the hair shaft, so it can be challenging to not damage the skin's pigment during the procedure. The procedure needs to be done by a well trained medical professional in a reputable laser hair clinic. The beam from the laser needs to stay in contact with the hair long enough to heat it up, if the laser stays in one spot for too long, it has the capacity to spread to the surrounding skin and cause damage. In some cases, the damage is permanent. There are many other side effects as well including laser scars, tattoo darkening, and reddened skin after treatment, crusting, skin blistering and hypo pigmentation. Any concerns or side effects should be discussed with the medical professional performing the procedure.

Medical IPL laser hair removal can also be used for permanent removal of hair. IPL, or intense pulsated light, is similar to laser hair removal in that it uses laser lights but IPL differentiates itself in that it produces a spectrum of lights opposed to one solid beam. It does not have the same success or efficiency rate as laser hair removal but may be a better option for some individuals.

In comparison, laser hair removal is extremely effective. It offers permanency, although multiple treatments may be necessary, to unwanted hair in unwanted places. For the best results and no harmful side effects, consult with a qualified medical professional to discuss all options, concerns and procedure that would work best.

Caring For Skin In Between Laser Hair Removal Sessions

Laser hair removal involves an average of six to eight sessions to be done in between intervals of eight weeks. Since you will be going through several laser sessions, it is common that the skin will show some side effects or reaction to the treatment. Some of the common side effects include redness, swelling, dry skin, blistering, lightening or darkening of the skin, and some tenderness of the treated area. These effects gradually fade away but the fact that your skin will experience this a few more times means that it should be cared for well in between sessions.

After the treatment, you can deal with the pain, swelling, and redness by applying a cold compress on the area. Wait for a few hours before you shower or wet the treated area. Shower as you normally do using your usual bath products. After showering, pat your skin dry, making sure not to rub the towel especially on the affected area. Once dry, apply moisturizer to prevent drying out the skin.

It is important not to pluck or wax hair in between sessions. You can shave the hair if their appearance is troubling you. The important thing is that the roots of the hair remain intact for the next laser session. Use shaving gel or shaving cream with mild ingredients to avoid irritation. Be careful not to apply too much pressure with the shaver or razor when shaving. Also, sloughing off dead skin cells with a gentle exfoliating cleanser or soap is advised.

When going out, be sure to wear the highest possible SPF that you can get your hands on. If you can help it, totally avoid sun exposure at all costs. Aside from causing burns or irritation on the treated area, the primary reason for avoiding the sun is to avoid tanning because having darker skin will make it harder for the laser session to work. In fact, some doctors will have you wait till your skin go back to its previous skin tone before you will be allowed to go through the next laser session.

Caring for the skin is very important when undergoing laser hair removal because it is considered a minimally invasive surgical procedure. Observe the above tips after each treatment and in between sessions to relieve the side effects. More than that, this will ensure that skin will remain healthy even beyond the duration of the treatment. Applying moisturizers on a daily basis will go a long way in maintaining skin health.

Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation For Younger Looking Skin

If you have brown spots, age spots or broken blood vessels on your face, neck or chest areas, you could consider photofacial skin rejuvenation to remove all these aging signs. Photofacial skin rejuvenation uses intense pulsed light called IPL with minimal down time, and great results.

Photofacial is a new non-surgical anti-aging skin treatment that is performed without any topical anesthetics. At the most, you may experience a small snap or sting when the IPL flash hits the skin, which is tolerable by most people. Moreover, unlike laser skin resurfacing and surgical anti-aging skin care methods, it does not require any recovery time.

The procedure

The bright intense pulsed light is passed through a filter where only a specific color of the flash light reaches the skin. The photofacial light energy reaches the skin and is selectively absorbed by the damaged blood vessel or brown pigment of the age spot. The heat of IPL light consequently destroys the pigment and blood vessel.

While lasers lead to peeling of skin and possible scars, photofacial skin rejuvenation is gentle on the skin. While the treated blood vessel and skin may darken a bit, the skin remains intact. At the most, the region may remain pink for a few hours. If required, this pinkness may be covered with makeup so that you can comfortably return to work the next day.

Three treatments may be required

You may have to undergo 3 photofacial skin rejuvenation treatments at a space of 4-5 weeks for the best results. It is actually technically possible to remove brown spots and blood vessels with a single treatment. However this energy level can be painful and may also leave to blisters and scars. To avoid this, it is suggested to take 2-3 treatments a month apart.

Your skin however feels rejuvenated within 4-5 weeks of treatment; the brown spots become lighter and red spots or blood vessels become smaller. In fact, people with thin skin and light pigmentation may see complete results in one treatment.

It is also possible to treat various skin conditions including hair removal and acne by placing color filters in front of the photofacial light beam. It is the various colors that pass through the filter that treats these different conditions.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal can be a great advantage for some, and an unfortunate disadvantage for others. However, before throwing in the towel, why not find out if you are one of the lucky ones that can benefit from laser hair removal.

Firstly, let's take a look at how the laser hair removal treatment works, as well as what benefits this hair removal treatment offers if you are the right candidate.

Removing hair with a laser is actually a simple and painless routine. Quite simply put; a Laser is activated on the skin surface where the candidate wishes to have their hair removed. Each laser burst lasts for about a fraction of a second. It is in this time period that the energy of the laser passes through the hair follicle and damages it, thus preventing the hair from growing there again.

With some people, one treatment can stop the hair from growing again. For others, more than one treatment is needed. Imagine having never to shave or wax that area ever again or at least for much longer periods of time in between treatments.

So what makes you the right candidate in order to forego a successful laser hair removal treatment? Generally people with light colored hair and dark skin are not the right candidates for laser hair removal. However, to really find out if this type of hair removal treatment can work for you, your best bet would be to visit a fully qualified laser hair removal practitioner so that they can give you their professional opinion.

It is important to understand that not everyone experiences permanent hair removal through laser treatment. Some will and others won't. There is never a guarantee. If a practitioner ever tells you otherwise, you would be wise to think twice about using his or her service.

The Latest Advances In Cosmetic Laser Surgery

Cosmetic laser surgery has introduced itself to the mainstream and is becoming used and growing in popularity. It is successfully taking its place as the preferred choice of cosmetic enhancements. Without the scary and often times intimidating procedures of invasive cosmetic surgery, laser surgery is boldly pushing traditional surgeries offstage and are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Lasers today offer patients a vast array of options for whatever aesthetically-altering surgery they are looking for. Though lasers are most often used for facial resurfacing, there are treatments that can be used for many different types of skin imperfections.

Lasers can remove:

moles
warts
wrinkles
age spots
scars
hair
port wine stains
birthmarks
tattoos

and many more imperfections anywhere on the body. They offer a much more precisely estimated outcome, as well as less bleeding, bruising, scarring, and drastically reduced recovery time. Let's take a look at the most innovative and effective procedures:

Laser Resurfacing - There are two types of lasers mainly used in resurfacing: The Fraxel which is excellent for improving wrinkles and fine lines, discoloration such as patchy areas and birth marks, pore reduction and age spots. Next, researchers have developed an Erbium-YAG/CO2 combination to drastically improve mild to severe acne, a traditionally difficult task with CO2 or Erbium lasers alone, though both separately are excellent lasers as well.

Hair Removal - The safest and most effective hair removal laser treatment is the "Candela GentleLase Laser System."As its name suggests, the laser delicately removes unwanted hairs without causing damage to delicate pores and skin structure.

Moles and Warts - The "Surgitron Laser Treatment" is effective in removing not only warts and moles all over the body and face, but is quite effective in reducing wrinkles and lines, including smoker's lip, crow's feet, and mild acne scars. The entire procedure is usually painless as an injection of a local anaesthetic is given and 30 to 40 minutes later a patient can walk out of the clinic.

There are many options as well as doctors who are permitted to perform cosmetic laser surgery, so researching the laser and treatment you want before booking the procedure is highly recommended. Also, be very weary of their credentials. Most doctors are allowed to administer cosmetic surgery without specializing in it at all! Please ensure that your doctor is certified and completely capable of giving you the very best in laser care.

Laser Hair Removal - What Is It?

Laser hair removal has been around for sometime. It's considered to be one of the safest ways for permanent hair removal. The hair gets burned-out without damhappinesslifetime.com aging skin or any other tissues.

10 Crucial Facts For Understanding Laser Hair Removal

When I first decided to go in for laser hair removal, I did some research on the subject just to know what I would be getting into. There was so much information available on the subject and the different techniques, and a lot of it is contradictory, that I spent more time than I expected to on my research. However, in the end I had a fairly good grasp of the subject of hair removal and this is what I found:

o Laser hair removal was approved for general use by the FDA in 1997 and its popularity has been growing over the years. It is now being used by both men and women to remove hair from just about any and all parts of the body. Laser epilation, to use its proper name, removes the hassles of shaving, waxing, tweezing or other forms of hair removal.

o Removing hair by using lasers involves the use of the laser to heat the melanin in the skin. This absorbed heat destroys the hair roots so that the hair does not grow back. Since the laser is so focused, no heat touches other parts of the skin, so there is no pain or burning.

o Laser hair treatment is completely safe with almost no side effects. The few that may sometimes be expected are usually limited to a slight swelling and redness of the treated area which feels a bit like sunburn. It typically lasts for about 3 hours and at most may remain for 2 to 3 days. However, since a great deal depends on the sensitivity of the skin, it's best to discuss potential side effects with a laser specialist to ensure that nothing unexpected occurs.

o Since the side effects of removing hair by laser are so limited, there is no need of any rest or recovery time, after the procedure is completed.

o Pain or discomfort after treatment are rare, but if it does occur, then an over the counter painkiller will take care of it.

o Most clinics and spas that offer hair removal by laser say that if the required number of treatments is completed, the removal of hair by laser is usually permanent. However, please note that the FDA speaks of hair reduction and not permanent hair removal. The fact remains that while those opting for laser hair removal see extremely good results, there is always a possibility of a few stray hair returning after a time which may require some small additional treatments.

o The amount of time one laser treatment can take depends on the area to be treated. For example having laser done on the back could take up to an hour - more for larger hairier areas and less for smaller areas like underarms.

o Costs of the treatment vary but typically having laser done on a single part of the body (bikini line laser for example) can cost about $400 to $500 and a full body treatment for hair removal by laser may cost between $4000 to $5000.

o Laser treatment is a cosmetic procedure, so the costs are not always covered by insurance.

Having collected all this information, I was now ready to start looking at the different types of lasers that could be used for the hair removal treatment and the facilities that clinics need to offer.

How Lasers Are Used in Medicine?

One common and incorrect belief is that basic high power green lasers can be used to heal or treat small cuts and nicks. If a laser is powerful enough, it will not heal a wound it will just burn it and in the process cauterize it. Cauterizing a wound with a laser may reduce the likelihood of infection but the burn will do much more damage.

Infrared laser pointers are commonly used to treat soft tissue injuries such as bruises and strains. Using a process known as bio-stimulation, infrared lasers can penetrate below the skin and vitalize cells. This in turn improves microcirculation, immune response, inflammation and reduces pain

Laser acupuncture: Is basically a non invasive method that uses infrared lasers to stimulate acupuncture pressure points and is ideal for people who have a fear or needles or can't tolerate the sensation of needles entering their body. Laser acupuncture is an ideal method for treating soft tissue injuries and giving pain relief for both acute and chronic illnesses. Lasers of 500mW or more are likely to cause skin burns.

Tattoo removal: Pulsed lasers are used that fire short and intense burst of light through the skin into the tattoo pigment. The pigment is broken down and then naturally removed over time by the body's immune system. Gone are the days when tattoo removal involved scaring and the loss of skin. Now using laser tattoo removal, a tattoo can be completely removed leaving the skin healthy, intact and completely tattoo free.

Surgery: For many types of surgery, the traditional scalpel has now been replaced by lasers. The advantages of laser surgery are is it is comparatively bloodless and the heat of the laser keeps the wound germ free and reduces the risk of infection. Laser surgery is also faster and therefore cheaper.

Sperm mobility: Research indicates that low level laser therapy improves sperm motility when applied in doses. The laser frees up chemical pathways in the sperm which releases energy from the mitochondria, causing the mitochondria to work better and faster.

Acne: Roughly 30% of acne consists of fat so the removal of fat will reduce acne. The fat in acne contains specific chemical bonds that are broken down by lasers, allowing the body to absorb the fat.

Cancer: This is one area where there is a lot of controversy and the benefits of lasers are unproven. Many doctors claim that they have used lasers to make significant progress in the treatment of cancer where conventional methods failed. Currently there is not enough research to prove the benefits of lasers in cancer and at least one prominent doctor has been taken too caught for fraud, charged with false claims in the use of lasers to treat cancer.

Laser Hair Removal - Laser Hair Removal Using the SopranoXL Laser

Unwanted hair can be a nuisance. The options for hair removal are smelly hair removal creams, sharp razors or burning wax. Laser hair removal is a hi-tech way of removing hair permanently.

I tried out the SopranoXL laser system (considered the next-generation laser system). Tired of removing the hair on my lower legs with an epilator, I wanted a more permanent solution that was fast and affordable.

First, my therapist rubbed aloe vera gel on my legs before shaving them. A cold gel was applied then she used the machine head emitting laser energy to make big sweeping motions on my lower legs. The procedure felt like a warm massage and I almost dozed off during the treatment. On the few occasions when I felt the machine getting hot, I simply informed my therapist and she would either stop or apply more cold gel. I was wiped down with a wet towel to remove all cold gel and another application of aloe vera gel was applied at the end of my session.

Results:

I was recommended five sessions in total, every two or three weeks, for the best result. However, good results can usually be seen after the second treatment.

SopranoXL laser system versus IPL hair removal:

- Highly effective on all hair and skin types including lighter hair and dark skin types.

- Relatively painless treatment as laser energy is used to heat up hair follicles gradually.

- Faster than traditional laser system as it uses a sweeping technique over larger spots instead of focused pulses on small areas.

- Safe, with low-risk of side effects and zero recovery time.

Is Laser Treatment More Effective For Stretch Marks Or Wrinkles?

Laser treatments have been used to treat patients suffering from several cosmetic blemishes and flaws including stretch marks and wrinkles. There are several laser treatments available and the success of each treatment will depend on the laser used, the severity of the patient's case, which skin condition or type of cosmetic blemish they wish to have treated, as well as other factors.

Lasers are used in several facets of the medical industry for their precision, versatility and relative safety. Many laser procedures are considered much safer than their surgical counterparts. Some even deliver results that are equal to, if not better than, surgical options. The recovery period and downtime following laser procedures is often much shorter and simpler.

Many cosmetic laser treatments target specific layers of the skin, leaving the top layer, called the epidermis, untouched while treating the bottom layer, called the dermis. Lasers may be used to stimulate the production of new collagen to improve the elasticity of the skin, which may help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and stretch marks, two common skin conditions treated in the cosmetic industry, among other cosmetic concerns.

In terms of treating wrinkles and stretch marks, lasers have produced significant results. Laser resurfacing procedures are commonly used to tighten skin to give patients a more youthful appearance. Patients must understand that laser resurfacing is not considered a substitute for a facelift and does not eliminate excessive skin. It works to tighten loose skin to improve folds and creases considered unsightly or embarrassing by some.

In terms of treating stretch marks, many healthcare professionals agree that they are one of the most difficult conditions to effectively remove. They usually occur with the loss of elasticity that may be the result of a loss of collagen in the skin. Some laser procedures have shown to be effective in reducing the appearance of stretch marks, but many healthcare professionals urge patients to undergo treatment for stretch marks with realistic expectations.

To answer the question posed in the title, laser treatment has shown to be more effective treating wrinkles than stretch marks. Laser resurfacing and fractional resurfacing procedures have been effective in treating various signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, sun spots and sun damaged skin. Avoiding sun exposure or wearing sunscreen and appropriate clothing when outdoors is a great way to prevent skin aging, but for those experiencing these conditions, laser therapies may prove very effective.

Laser Hair Removal and Tanning

Modern day lifestyles can be demanding and tiring. From challenging careers and expectant children, there are sometimes not enough hours in the day to complete everything on your to-do list. But no matter what your lifestyle is and how much there is to juggle, we all want to look and feel our best. For many men and women, this includes having glowing tanned skin which is smooth, silky and hair free.

Tanning changes your natural skin pigmentation. Whether you choose to tan in the natural sunlight, use sunbeds in a tanning salon or use tanning creams, all methods of tanning have the same effect on skin by changing the skins natural pigmentation.

Laser hair removal is quickly becoming the number one choice as it is fast, convenient and affordable. Laser hair removal gives you hair removal without all the fuss and mess of other options.

However, people who favour tanning have been discouraged from having laser hair removal due to the fact that tanning, whichever method is used, darkens the skins and changes pigmentation. People are advised to use SPF15 or higher, even in everyday sunlight. This is because the procedure for involves light energy passing through the skin and entering the hair follicles below in order to disable them and prevent hair growth. However, tanned skin will absorb excess amounts of light energy as it passes through the skin. When the skin absorbs excessive amounts of light energy, the skin can suffer burning or discolouration. People were therefore advised to wait six to eight weeks after the last exposure to sunlight or tanning creams or until the tan had faded from their skin to avoid any adverse side effects.

But now as lifestyles changed and technology developes, lasers using longer wavelengths which provide safer treatments for people with darker or tanned skin are becoming more popular. The longer wavelength lasers enable people with tanned or darker skin types to have laser hair removal treatments comfortably and without the burning or discolouration which may have damaged skin when using other lasers.

Thanks to the constant development of technology, there is now a safe method of laser hair removal available every skin tone and type.

Anyone who has just had a laser hair removal treatment, no matter which laser was used or what their skin type is, needs to look after their skin properly. The area which has been treated will be sensitive after treatment and patients should avoid exposure to sunlight and tanning creams until the sensitivity has gone and skin is healed. SPF 30 or higher should be used on treated areas to ensure the skin is not overexposed to sunlight and enable the skin to heal properly.

Laser Acne Treatment Technologies

happinesslifetime.com Laser acne treatment is an exciting new technology for getting rid of acne blemishes. There are a wide variety of lasers available to treat persistent outbreaks of spots, with more being developed every year due to the rising popularity of laser treatment. Most fight this skin condition in one of two ways, although there are several other methods, too.

The most common method of happinesslifetime.com laser acne treatment is by using the laser to disable or shrink the sebaceous glands in the skin. These glands produce oil. Overactive glands make your face oily, causing breakouts by blocking your pores and hair follicles. During happinesslifetime.com laser acne treatment, the lasers beam enters your skin and turns into heat, precisely targeting the sebaceous glands. After laser treatment using this method, your face will not be so oily, and the number of acne flare-ups will be reduced.

Lasers are also used to fight breakouts by killing acne-causing bacteria living in your skin. This p. acnis bacteria occurs naturally in the oils of your skin, but too much bacteria can lead to spots. Because it lives deep in the skin, it is not reached simply by washing your face. There are antibiotics available to fight the bacteria, but happinesslifetime.com laser acne treatments take just a few short visits to your dermatologist, whereas the medications must be taken daily. By killing off these bacteria, laser treatments can provide long-lasting relief from your skin condition.

The laser types used for acne treatment vary in their wavelength. Lasers used for this procedure range from about 450nm up to 1450nm, and the exact wavelength of light used depends on the cause of your problem. Usually, shorter wavelengths are used to target bacteria, while longer wavelengths more effectively disable the sebaceous glands. Today, many lasers can effectively treat both of these causes at the same time, leading to even more effective laser treatments.

Some of the many types of lasers used include Erbium, CO2, diode, and pulsed dye. However, there are many other lasers besides these. For example, blue light lasers are used to kill the bacteria in the skin. Laser treatment is a developing industry, and new lasers are being developed every day to fight acne in new and exciting ways.

Many of the lasers used for acne treatment are also used against scars and for other skin-smoothing applications. Because of this, they also reduce the appearance of acne scars. These types of lasers are called ablative lasers; they work by removing a thin layer of skin, much like sanding a tabletop to reveal a smoother surface.

Because there are several different technologies involved in laser treatment for acne, these treatments are effective against existing blemishes, future breakouts, and even preexisting acne scars. Since this technology is noninvasive, there is almost no recovery time involved in happinesslifetime.com laser acne removal, and it is nearly pain-free.

Skin Whitening - Whiten Skin 100% Naturally and Safely

I am a strong believer and all natural solution when it comes to skin products treatments. It make only sense to use 100% natural ingredients that contains natural nutriments that can only be good for you. Chemicals are not natural, they are results of different combination of experiments that led to a solution that is suppose to be beneficial to the individual. In some cases science and technology does us good. But when you stop and think about it, in the case of skin treatment there is no way chemicals will do any good in the long run.

Especially in the skin treatment department. I can't stop thinking about hydroquinone, a chemical widely used in skin bleaching treatments. The short term results are quite noticeable but what will it do to your skin in the long term. Who knows? I sometimes find hard to believe at which extent some people will go to get quick and instant results.

When it comes to skin treatment, the only way to get permanent and long lasting results is to use natural and fresh ingredients which you need to apply on a regular basis. Also, dieting plays a major role on how beautiful and glowing your skin will look. But for this article, I want to put the emphases on skin whitening treatments. Besides the whiten skin creams that have proven to give considerable results, they are also other treatments available.

The two most popular ones for quick results are chemical peel and laser treatment. Chemical peel is the process of peeling off a layer of your skin which will reveal a new and fresh layer that is much more brighter than the old skin layer. The problem with chemical peels is that it requires more than one intervention to get results since the skin needs to be constantly peel to get the new and fresh skin layer out.

Laser treatment on the other hand requires only one intervention. The problem with laser treatment is that it is very expensive. Depending on the darkness of the skin skin, the price of a full body treatment can easily reach 5 000$.

And again, all these method simply don't make sense to me. I am a strong believer in the 100% safe and natural way to whiten skin. You only have one body and when it comes to skin you cannot mess up in this area. Using chemical cream can damage your skin forever. Whiten skin is a long process that takes time and effort but when done properly will give you strong and permanent bright whiten skin.

Give Your Pits a Blitz This Christmas With Laser Hair Removal

Is there anything worse than getting to the Christmas party dressed up to the nines, acting full of confidence to find that when you raise your arms up for the Y.M.C.A, you notice unsightly stubble under your arms? What can make you even more embarrassed is if someone else notices the excess hair too!

What solutions are there to the horrible superfluous hair faux-pas? Razors seem to be an easy option, but even the best shaving system will only remove the hair until it grows back the next day or sometimes sooner. Some of my friends say that they can see hair coming through whilst they are out on the town! Not a good look at all.

Hair removal creams offer a slightly longer lasting smooth finish, however the creams can be messy and most carry an unpleasant odour. Application takes 10-15 minutes and the cream dissolves the hair to just under the skin's surface, meaning that again the hair can grow back through quickly giving the 5 o'clock shadow under the arm.

Waxing is the longer-lasting approach that removes the hair from the root either using a strip to pull the warm wax off, or a hot wax that is ripped off as it dries. It has been said that the hotter wax is less painful as it pulls on the hair and not the skin, but both can be quite painful, after-all it is ripping the hair from your skin! Unless you are really brave, this also is the kind of treatment you can only have in the salon environment meaning on-going costs for you, as well as having to put up with grow-back. Having to wait for it to be long enough seems to always coincide with the Christmas party, so this is not always the best option either.

One other method of hair removal is electrolysis, this is where a probe is inserted into the hair follicle and then a heat or chemical release damages the hair bulb so that it doesn't grow back or it has difficulty in growing back. Although eventually it is a permanent method of hair removal, it can take years to remove all the unwanted hair and can be painful, so popularity has diminished in recent years.

Possibly the best solution for a pits blitz is sknclinics.co.uk laser hair removal treatment. A high level of energy in the laser light is aimed at the melanin pigment within the hair. The melanin converts the energy into heat, destroying not only the hair but the hair matrix and hair bulb at the base of the follicle. As the hair has to be in a particular stage of hair growth, not all the hairs will be removed in one go, as a result you will have to come for more than one treatment. People who have had the treatment describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful with great results.

Stupid Skin Care - How to Avoid an Unsafe Facial

Beware! There is really stupid happinesslifetime.com skin care out there. Really stupid. There is also excellent happinesslifetime.com skin care available by well qualified professionals. So you have a choice, leaving a treatment with glowing skin or leaving with wasted money at best, or in the worst case scenario, burns or scratches.

So here's the deal: Aestheticians generally get 600-800 hours of training, which prepares them to take and pass state boards. They are then expected to go out and build a business, working with people who have acne, happinesslifetime.com aging skin, sensitive skin and guess what? allergies. They also apply mild chemicals to the face -- fruit acid peels are extremely popular and they are an effective form of exfoliation. In the hands of an inexperienced person or a person who is using peels with acid percentage levels beyond their scope of practice can do some major damage.

So buyer take care and become an educated consumer - after all this is your FACE we are talking about! Here are a few ways to avoid costly mistakes.

1. Licensure: Aestheticians like cosmetologists must hold a State license. Make sure your happinesslifetime.com skin care professional's license is up-to-date.

2. Insurance: It is the goal of a trained professional to help you achieve optimal results. and even the best professional can have an unanticipated result. Make sure your aesthetician carries insurance or is covered under the insurance carried by the spa or hair salon where he or she works. In the case of an aesthetician working in a physician's office, the aesthetician should be covered under the doctor's malpractice insurance.

Some insurance companies have limitations. A very popular exfoliation technique is a "chemabrasion." Chemabrasion is a chemical peel immediately followed by microdermabrasion (exfoliation using a machine that is akin to a gentle sand blasting, which exfoliates the top layer of the skin and stimulates collagen production). Not all insurance companies will provide coverage for a back-to-back peel and microdermabrasion. The aestheticians insurance company may require a 48 hour wait period between the two services. Check and see if your aesthetician is aware of this caveat.

3. Scope of Practice: In certain states aestheticians can only work on the epidermis of the skin. If an aesthetician offers to perform a laser treatment on you, check with the cosmetology board in your state and see if in your state aestheticians are allowed to handle laser. Lasers can burn! ouch! In some states only physicians are allowed to use skin tightening and hair removal lasers. Even if you are in a doctor's office do not assume that an aesthetician is legally allowed to handle lasers or IPL.

4. More on Scope of Practice: Mild chemical peels are an excellent way to coax your skin back to health especially when performed in a series-- however, they can also burn and cause hyper and hypo pigmentation. Know the laws of your state. Some states allow an aesthetician to only use up to a 30% acid peel with a pH level no lower than 3. Ask your aesthetician what level peel she is planning to use. In a physician's office (double check with your state), a trained aesthetician can perform a peel of any strength. You need to decide if you are comfortable with this. Ask how much experience they have had performing these peels before consenting.

Be aware there are some aestheticians who do not work in a physician's office but have managed to get a physician to approve purchase of doctor only products or higher strength chemical peels. If something goes wrong, it is possible that neither the doctor or the aesthetician would be covered by their malpractice insurance. If your aesthetician bandies about the word "cosmeceutical," check and see if the are allowed by the manufacturer to carry this line, or if it is a physician exlusive product.

5. Microdermabrasion: Microdermabrasion treatments leave your skin soft, smooth and polished. Both peels and microdermabrasions are an excellent way to remove the dead skin cells and stagnant skin cells that can lead to basal cell cancers. However, be aware that even in the hands of the most expert aesthetician microdermsion can leave behind a few scratch marks. To be on the safe side ask if your aesthetician is certified on the microdermabrasion machine he or she is using and request to see their certification. You might ask how they would treat any superficial scratch.

More on microdermabrasion: Some microdermabrasion machines use crystals to exfoliate the skin. Some of these machines are equipped with a disposable tip on the wand -- the tip is applied to your face and it is plastic. To save money some locations may "sterilize" the tip. If you see your aesthetician remove a plastic tip from a sterilizer, ask her to open up a new tip for you. If they ask to save your tip to reuse on you, just say no.

Prior to having a peel or microdermabrasion make sure you have not used retin a or retinol products for at least a week prior to the service. If your aesthetician does not inquire what medications and topical products you are using on your face, it might be a good idea to rebook the appointment with someone else.

6. Botox and dermal filler injections: If an aesthetician offers to perform a Botox (neurotoxin or dermal filler injection) on you, just leave.

7. Product sales: At home treatment is critical to maintain your results. Your aesthetician will make several recommendations. Prior to purchasing the products ask how much experience she has had with the products and how much training. These products can be expensive and some are worth the expense but some are not worth the expense. Just make sure you know what you are buying.

8. If an aesthetician tells you they think a spot on your face, neck or decollete looks concerning, take this seriously and book an appointment with your dermatolgist to rule out skin cancer.

Some happinesslifetime.com skin care experts are stupid. So protect yourself. Know what is safe and not safe, because when it comes to happinesslifetime.com skin care, an error can last a lifetime.... on your face.
