Titan Laser Skin Tightening Procedure

After frustrated attempts to regain your younger-looking skin with over-the-counter skin products, you'd be looking for a method that does not use needles or surgery, the Titan laser skin tightening would be the best option for you.

The titan is a safe infrared apparatus that applies heat on the dermis, the skin's deeper layer which causes a contraction of the collagen. The heat also enhances the development of fibroblasts that will create collagen, resulting in a continuous tightening of the skin as time goes by long-term collagen production. The epidermis, the skin's outer layer is disabled from heating up through the cooling device, which is built in and maintains the safety of the surface skin from heat-related damage.

Titan is unique with the wave length and treatment parameters differentiating it from other laser resurfacing apparatus. The range of its light energy is carefully selected to result in a more even distribution of heat. The US Food and Drug Administration has given its clearance to the titan for a topical heating of tissues to tighten and enhance circulation to the skin. It is widely used in Europe and Canada for treating wrinkles and general skin treatments.

The laser can be used on the face, neck, abdomen, arms, legs, buttocks and any part of the body where the skin has lost its elasticity. Dark or light skin can be treated because the heat focuses on the deeper layers of the skin. However, the titan is not an appropriate treatment for large areas of loosened skin, like those parts affected by abrupt or drastic loss of weight from obesity. In circumstances like these, surgery would be required.

Any skin infections have to be treated before you can be treated in this procedure to avoid infecting other parts of your body. Pregnancy may not necessarily prevent you from the titan treatment but it is advisable to undergo the treatment after giving birth and have stopped breastfeeding.

The Procedure

The Titan procedure is as short as 30 minutes and as long as 90 minutes, varying upon the extent of the areas that would be treated. Anesthesia is not required because Titan involves no pain. However, there are some patients who choose to take oral analgesics a few minutes before the procedure. The patient would feel some warming then cooling feelings. A redness that would be noted right after would also vanish after a few hours. Then you can go back to doing your regular activities.

In general, one session would resolve your condition but there are others with a high degree of skin laxity who would require multiple treatments. Multiple treatments would be done in between 4 to 8 weeks. You would be able to see some results immediately but the best results you aspire for would come about after 2 to 3 months, after the formation of new collagen. These results will stay with you for a year or two.

Complications

If undertaken by experienced or well-trained professionals, the titan skin tightening is a safe procedure. Practically painless, your discomfort would be only some heat sensation for a very brief period. Any redness or swelling would disappear in 1 to 2 hours.

There have been rare instances when blisters formed because of the heat, on bony areas alongside the jaw or forehead. These would decrease or recede in a week's time. If you feel pain in the treated areas or see blisters, you should tell your doctor immediately.

Cost

The costs of titan skin tightening would vary on the magnitude of skin laxity, areas to be treated, and the location of the clinic. Average costs for a total treatment would range from $1,500 to $4,000. This is excluded from insurance coverage but there are discounted packages and payment options you can ask your healthcare provider about.
