Skin Tightening Lasers - Getting Rid Of Sagging Skin

Skin tightening lasers are growing in popularity. This cosmetic surgery process is referred to as, laser skin tightening. It uses radioactive energy and laser heat, to remove signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles. Laser skin techniques tend to be expensive, but it is one of the safest and least invasive methods to combat the symptoms of aging.

Some people use anti-wrinkle creams and solutions to remove wrinkles, lines and sagging skin. There are many products, which are highly effective against anti-aging, but they can take months before seeing significant results. Other procedures that exist include surgical face lifts and chemical peels. All of which, include serious side effects and pain.

People who want to improve their appearance, may wonder if they are good candidates to skin tightening lasers. The first thing to realize is, skin tightening procedures work for people of all skin tones and skin types. It works well for men and women alike. If you suffer from sagging skin around the neck, face or other places such as the stomach, you are a good candidate for this type of laser. If you have wrinkles and lines that you wish to remove, then you are a good candidate.

Now, being a candidate does not mean you can just schedule an appointment and get the procedure done instantaneously. As with any other type of cosmetic surgery or procedure, you must first meet with the surgeon, who will prepare you for the process. Do not be surprised if you have to wait 30 days, before the treatment. Many surgeons will tell patients, to avoid direct sunlight for 21-28 days before treatment with skin tightening lasers.

Depending on your lifestyle and location, avoiding sunlight may seem next to impossible. However, using a good sunscreen with a high SPF can work as an alternative. Additionally, many patients have reported, prior to their procedure, they were instructed not use lotions. Even more specifically, lotions or creams containing vitamin A. Therefore, a complete overhaul in your skin care regime may be necessary.

The day a person undergoes skin tightening lasers, the skin is first cleansed. Any oil, makeup or dirt is removed. The patient is given a topical anaesthetic and protective eye wear. Once the skin is cleansed and the patient is protected against any pain and dangers due to lasers, the surgeon takes the laser machine and gently glides it over the skin. Simultaneously, the machine will release cool air and very high intense light. The cool air prevents the skin from burning, and the light gives out a controlled heat, which reaches deep into the layers of skin.

There are many pros to cosmetic lasers. For those who want to get rid of wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin due to age or weight loss, laser tightening is highly effective. Pain is minimal and in the worst case scenario, pain medication can be prescribed to help with any discomfort.

The only con to skin tightening lasers is the cost of the treatment. Patients usually have to go through 3-4 treatments, with one month gaps in between. You can expect to spend anywhere between $500-$3,500 per treatment. A person's age and skin condition, determines how many treatments it may or may not need to receive maximum results.
