Skin Tightening and Anti-Aging Treatments

Traditionally the only procedure for treating skin laxity was surgery. This involved much discomfort, significant downtime and the possibility of scarring. For individuals who are just starting to notice skin laxity at the neck and face, skin tightening with infrared light is a great alternative to a face lift. The titan is the most reputable device for skin tightening which works on the principle of volumetric bulk dermal heating.

The titan uses infrared light to generate heat 1-3 mm under the skin. This generation of heat forces the collagen to contract and reproduce itself which takes up to 2 months after the procedure. Tightening the skin with infrared light is not a replacement for a facelift for those with extreme sagging skin.

There are many skin treatments available and advertised for anti-aging. Determining which is the most effective can be a difficult challenge for those unfamiliar to skin rejuvenation and regeneration treatments. There are three laser treatments available which penetrate the three main levels of the skin. There is the epidermis, the dermal papillary layer and the deeper dermis. When penetrating the epidermis, the target is usually browns and reds in the skin which may take the form of sun damage/brown spots and broken capillaries/diffused redness.

When penetrating the dermal papillary layer, you are stimulating collagen remodeling and re-growth which is great for improving texture and tone and fine lines. For skin laxity infrared light is penetrating the deeper dermis stimulating collagen contraction. Stimulating collagen at different levels of the skin is a very natural approach to preventing aging. Since these treatments stimulate your own collagen, the results are long lasting.
