Is Pulse Laser Dye Wart Removal Right For You?

Have you tried out just about everything and still nothing gets rid of that stubborn wart?

Maybe it's time to try pulse dye laser. It might be the answer to your prayers. And while it's somewhat new, it comes yielding an impressive track record.

The pulse dye laser has been shown to remove up to two thirds of the growths caused by the human papilomavirus. The odds are good that some of your warts are included in the list.

The process is simple enough. The laser energy is concentrated on the wart tissue itself. The vast majority of the laser light actually bypasses the upper layers of the skin, known as the epidermis. Instead it sinks in down to the dermis and is concentrated on the tiny blood vessels that feed the growth.

During this process it's not unusual to feel a little stinging, much like being snapped with a rubber band. If you are very sensitive to pain, your doctor may offer to apply a topical or a local anesthesia on the surface area. For most people, though, it's not necessary.

Immediately following treatment, the surface area affected swells slightly and it may turn somewhat red in color. This is typical and within several days disappears and the texture and tone of your skin goes back to normal

One of the good things about this treatment is the short period of time it requires. Depending on the number of warts or moles being treated in a single session, it may take from 10 to 30 minutes.

The exact number of laser sessions you'll need hinges on the number of warts and their case-by-case "stubbornness". Simple warts usually require, at most, two sessions. Many simple warts in fact, can be done away with with a single laser application. The deeper warts and those more resistive may take several more treatments.

Another nice thing about laser wart treatment is that is almost risk-free. It's the only treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use on children.

The risk of scarring is also minimal. Remember that, laser is only a type of light which interacts with your skin during the session, making it less hazardous than many treatments that may use harsh chemicals or by actually cutting down into your skin.

And while prices vary from area to area, in a few locations pulse dye laser treatment starts as low as $100. You'll have to check with your local dermatologists to find out how much it will cost in your area.
