Stretch Mark Removal Laser Therapy

Stretch marks are scars, which usually appear in the form of pinkish or discolored streaks of skin. They are formed as a result of skin being stretched over a long period of time. It is caused as a result of sudden gain and/or sudden reduction of weight. Stretch marks removal laser serves as a boon to those who want these dreaded marks removed.

Development of stretch marks depends on a number of factors other than the stretching of skin. These include hormonal factors, genetics, diet, exercise, etc. In other words, the overall health of the individual determines it.

These marks usually occur around the thighs, arms, side of the stomach, breasts and legs- areas where weight loss is apparent. Another separate category of these marks is the post delivery scars which, of course occurs around the abdomen, breasts, hips and the buttocks. If one waits for time to heal such scars, it will be disappointing because such scars might get reduced with time but will not disappear altogether.

Laser therapy aims at destroying the target cells without affecting other cells in any way whatsoever. Usage of laser in cosmetology for the removal of scars is becoming popular. But even as its popularity is increasing, one cannot keep one's eye closed to its side effects, which includes darkening or lightening or bruising of the area of the skin around which the therapy has been performed.

Also, this therapy is not consistent with its results with different individuals. People who are light skinned and/or whose scars are shallow respond better. For most individuals, laser therapy is a painless treatment. But nevertheless some patients have gone through the treatment with anesthesia. This treatment works in combination with cream/drugs like tretinoin.

All said and done, stretch mark removal laser is the only effective means of removal of stretch marks till date.
