Well not any more because the Soprano XL safer, more effective and more reliable than any other laser on the market meaning your worries are a thing of the past.

Here we answer some frequently asked questions regarding laser hair removal and the revolutionary Soprano XL in particular.

How long will it take to complete my course of Soprano treatment?

Hair grows in cycles and at different speeds for different areas of the body so it will largely depend on which area is to be treated although individual factors can have an effect as well.

For the face, the anagen cycle is normally about 4 to 8 weeks and so we would suggest treatments should be 6 weeks apart to get the best results.

The body anagen cycles are longer and so it is normally suggested that treatments should be about 6 to 12 weeks apart. The first couple of treatments should conducted 6 to 8 weeks apart, eventually progressing up to 12 week intervals as the hair in that area starts to grow slower thanks to the treatment..

What is an anagen cycle?

The hair grows in 3 separate stages or cycles which are called anagen, catagen, and telogen.

The anagen hair is active hair and this cycle is the growing cycle whilst the other two stages are in different stages of shedding and resting.

Hair must be in the Anagen cycle for it to be effectively treated by the laser. This is why you need a course of treatment spread over a period of time in order to treat and disable all the follicles in an area, as they come into the Anagen or growing phase.

How does it work?

The Soprano laser safely passes through the dermis of the skin and the heat is absorbed into the hair follicle, gently heating it to 45C, damaging the follicles so they no longer work and stop growing hair.

Why is the Soprano laser different from other lasers or IPL treatment?

All other current laser hair removal technology emits heat provided by concentrated light either a single or multi pulse on one small spot. This is can be painful as the skin also absorbs some of the heat causing a burning or snapping sensation. Also, the hair absorbs the rest of the heat energy ineffectively and unpredictably which means the process can be time consuming and painful. These types of lasers are less safe and the risk of side effects far greater.

When treating dark skin with other lasers there is more risk of burning and scarring because the laser energy is absorbed by melanin in the skin meaning it reaches a higher temperature. So with other lasers the more melanin present in someone's skin the higher the risk of side effects. Using traditional lasers and IPL treatments presents risks for any pigmented or coloured skin, whether its tanned, Asian or black.

This is where Soprano Xl comes into its own, It is safe to use on all skin types and thanks to its 'Safe Hair Removal' mode there are virtually no chance of side effects.

And its not just darker skin that has been a problem for other lasers, Soprano treats many types of finer lighter hair that have not been previously possible to treat.

It is a risk treating lighter finer hair with old lasers as the lighter and finer the hair, the more energy is required from the laser, as there is less melanin to absorb that energy, and this high energy or heat is also absorbed by the skin. This often leaves marks burns and blisters creating a greater risk of hyper-pigmentation, hypo-pigmentation and even scarring.

Is the Soprano treatment session done in 1 session for large areas?

Yes, because the Soprano XL is virtually pain free and has even been compared to 'a hot stone massage' and also thanks to its unique IN-Motion application technique large areas such as legs back chest arms, torso, can be treated in relative ease and comfort in 1 session.

Here are some typical approximate treatment times.

Legs take 45 mins to an hour,

Gents back takes 20 mins, as does gents front torso

Face takes 10 mins

Lip and chin takes 5 to 10 min

Bikini and underarm takes 15 mins.
